Your Bargaining Team has now met with District representatives for ten full-day sessions. We have continued to make progress. We currently have agreed-upon articles for:
Association Rights, Business Expenses, Class Coverage, Daily Rate of Pay, District Rights, Negotiation Procedures, Non-Discrimination, Organizational Security, Personal and Academic Freedom, Personnel Files, Public Complaints, Safety Conditions, Shared Contracts, Teaching Conditions, Assignments and Transfers (Transfer/Reassignment and Notification of Assignments), Preparation Time, and Hours and Additional Duties.
Teacher Support and Induction, Evaluation Procedures, Leaves, and Early Retiree Health Benefits, Class Size, and Salary and Benefits.
Discussions remain generally positive, however the pace of bargaining has slowed as we tackle more difficult outstanding issues. We expect to bargain into August if necessary and have more days on the calendar for negotiations. We realize that many members of the bargaining unit are increasingly impatient. We are impatient as well as we seek to gain the best contract possible for the most members. Know that we are doing our utmost to reach a fair and equitable settlement expeditiously.
It has always been our goal to complete bargaining on our initial contract this school year--even if final ratification must wait until August. We continue to pursue that goal.
We appreciate your support and encouragement! We will get this done!
Snowline Teachers' Association (STA) is an organization of Snowline teachers that currently represents approximately two thirds of all the teachers in the Snowline School District. While representing our members it is our goal to improve the education of the students by supporting all of the teachers within the Snowline School District.
